U.S. House - District 02
Candidate List
- Angie Craig (DFL)
- Tyler Kistner (R)
- Paula Overby (LMN)
Access to Health Care
The decision on whether or not to repeal the Affordable Care Act will be decided by the Supreme Court. If it is overturned, how do you think we should protect Americans with pre-existing conditions like cancer?
Angie Craig
Despite the administration’s legally dubious argument, the Supreme Court could rule to overturn the ACA. The effects would be catastrophic. If the law is repealed, Congress must act immediately to pass legislation to preserve the ACA’s critical protections for those with pre-existing conditions, the ban on lifetime and annual limits in health coverage, Medicaid expansion, tax credits, the ability for young adults to remain on their parents’ insurance until age 26, and more. Congress must build and strengthen the ACA, not tear it down. I will never stop fighting to protect Americans with pre-existing conditions and for all the lifesaving protections the ACA provides.

Health Equity in Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are a critical step in advancing medical research, yet one in five trials fail due to lack of participation. Common barriers to enrollment include lack of transportation, or an inability to afford lodging or take time off work. Communities of color are particularly impacted by these barriers, leading to a lack of diversity in trial participants. What policy changes would you support to address these issues?
Angie Craig
We need to bring together policy experts, advocates, and government to make data-driven recommendations on how the federal government can address longstanding inequities in our system that have plagued communities of color for decades, including the lack of diversity among clinical trial participants. I will continue to support proposals like the Henrietta Lacks Enhancing Cancer Research Act, which passed the House under the FY 2021 spending bill. The federal government has a responsibility to identify the barriers facing communities of color and to implement policy changes that ensure equitable clinical trial participation.
