Flavors are a marketing weapon the tobacco manufacturers use to target youth and young people to a lifetime of addiction. The use of any flavored tobacco product among youth is concerning because it exposes them to a lifetime of nicotine addiction, disease, and premature death.
Protecting Children and Reducing the Global Tobacco Burden
In this report, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network highlights what’s at stake if Congress does not approve of the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement with the tobacco provision. Without this provision, the tobacco industry would be able to use the agreement to pursue legal challenges that can prevent or undo life-saving, evidence-based tobacco control policies and programs in participating countries.
