Youth Access to Tobacco & E-cigarettes

Registration will be open at 12 noon and the program begins at 1:00 p.m.

 

Bethany Davis from WSFA-TV will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The State Health Officer, Scott Harris, M.D. has been invited to share the programs in place at the Alabama Public Health Department to reduce youth access to tobacco and e-cigarettes. Hear from community groups who are working hard to keep kids from ever starting to use tobacco.

 

A panel discussion on the Stringer-Drummond Vaping Act with Rep. Barbara Drummond, HD 103, co-sponsor of the Stringer-Drummond Act, Summer Childers, Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, Licensing and Compliance Division Director, and Rep. Matt Fridy, Representaive of Alabama House District 73, will take place.

 

An update on current policy interventions around tobacco products, including e-cigarettes will be given by Lance Barbour, Senior State and Local Manager, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. An additional update on smoke-free campaigns and cessation programs will be provided.

 

A meeting of the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Alabama will be held immediately following the forum.
