Georgia Volunteer Receives Emerging Leader Award for Excellence in Cancer Advocacy

Emily Fain of Atlanta was presented the Emerging Leader award by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) for her innovative advocacy efforts to help make cancer a national priority. This annual award is presented to a state volunteer who has demonstrated a promising start in her role with ACS CAN by taking advantage of new opportunities to advocate for cancer patients.

Georgia Legislature Failing to Enact Proven Cancer-Fighting Policies

The Georgia state legislature is contributing to the state’s cancer burden by failing to implement evidence-based policies designed to fight cancer, according to a report released today by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN). Georgia earned a “green” rating in only two of nine categories examined in the annual How Do You Measure Up? report. Only six states achieved fewer top ratings.
