Daniel P. Heist, CPA, is the chair of the American Cancer Society Board of Directors. Mr. Heist has been a member of the American Cancer Society Board of Directors since 2008 and has been a volunteer with the Society for more than 30 years. He previously served on the ACS CAN Board of Directors from 2014 to 2017 and has held leadership positions at every level of the organization, including service on the former East Central Division Board.
In honor of his dedication to our mission, Mr. Heist received the St. George National Award in 2013.
Mr. Heist is director of internal audit at the Pennsylvania State University with more than 30 years of accounting, auditing, and management experience. As a key administrator member, Dan transitioned Penn state’s internal audit function towards a risk-based audit approach using enterprise-wide risk assessment and a consultative, customer service focus. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Heist received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University. He resides in State College, Pennsylvania with his wife Pamela and daughter Katelyn.
