Colorectal Cancer Prevention and Screening Awareness

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. when men and women are combined and a cause of considerable suffering among nearly 135,000 adults diagnosed with colorectal cancer each year. The issue is that  1 in 3 adults between 50 and 75 years old – about 23 million people – are not getting tested as recommended.

In Hawaii, our current screening percentage is at 57%. As part of a national movement to improve the screening percentage to 80%, ACS CAN Hawaii-Pacific will be supporting a legislative initiative to help fund an educational awareness program for colorectal screenings.
