It's Time to Protect South Dakota Children from Skin Cancer

We cannot protect South Dakota teenagers from melanoma and other skin cancers unless we prohibit minors from using indoor tanning devices. Sign the petition today.

The evidence is clear:

  • People who use tanning beds before the age of 35 increase their risk of melanoma by 59 percent.
  • Melanoma is one of the most common cancers among people in their 20s.
  • Nearly 44% of high school junior girls and nearly 50% of high school senior girls currently use tanning beds in South Dakota (2013, YRBS)

I call on the South Dakota Legislature to support legislation that restricts children under the age of 18 from using indoor tanning devices.
